A Sweet Reunion
October 2025
In September, our BTC director, Inoussa Adjayi, and his lovely wife Rebecca were in the U.S. With some delays, their flight finally arrived in Houston. They were met at the airport by Executive Director, DC Brown, on September 2nd and immediately began visiting some of the brethren who support our work.
Our travels took us through several cities in Texas, including a visit with the missions committee of the West Erwin church in Tyler, TX. Before heading for Kentucky, we had an opportunity to have breakfast with Jay and Gale Scott Lockhart. Gale is a dedicated World Bible School teacher. It is through WBS that Gale and Adjayi became acquainted.
Their story goes back many years. Adjayi was about 20 years of age and had moved from Togo to Nigeria. Here is how Adjayi tells it:
“In 1983, I met a friend who gave me the address of a WBS teacher called Gale Scott. I was her second student. She taught me the word of God. I asked, ‘Why do we have many churches in the world?’ She answered this question to my satisfaction by directing me to the church of the Bible… She taught me that Jesus is the only way to God… I asked to be baptized in 1994.”
Soon, Gale was influencing Adjayi to relocate to a place in Nigeria where Christians could help in his new walk with the Lord. Adjayi determined to be an evangelist.
With support from Gale and the West Erwin congregation, Adjayi studied at the Nigerian Christian Bible College, graduating in 1987. Soon he was back in Togo and working with the brethren there. When BTC was established in 1993 in neighboring Benin, Adjayi began traveling to Benin to teach classes.
His role as a part-time instructor developed into opportunities and greater responsibilities. Today, he is the BTC director overseeing the education of men like himself – desiring to preach God’s word.
It was a great joy for Adjayi and Rebecca to spend some time with Gale and Jay Lockhart. A teacher, a student, and a desire to serve the Lord has been a blessing to both, but also to hundreds more through their ongoing service.
