June 2025
Brother Awanou Mindefan Geoffroy, born on December 31, 1993, in Benin, distinguished himself from a young age by a deep thirst for knowledge and a strong commitment to education. These qualities naturally led him to a rigorous and progressive academic journey.
Academic Background
Geoffroy began his primary education in a local school. Through his discipline and dedication, he successfully obtained his Primary School Certificate (CEP) in 2001. He then proceeded to secondary school, completing grades six to nine. In 2011, he passed the First Cycle Secondary School Certificate (BEPC) examination. Continuing into high school, he chose the literature track (Series A) and successfully obtained the Baccalaureate in Series A, further strengthening his academic foundation. In 2020, driven by a desire to enhance his skills, he enrolled in a university program in Human Resource Management, after being selected through an interview process. He is currently in his fifth year (Master’s 2 level) and, in 2023, he obtained his bachelor’s degree, ranking among the top of his class.
Theological Training
Alongside his academic studies, Geoffroy felt a strong call to serve God. In 2017, he joined the Bible Training Center of the Churches of Christ in Zinvié, as a member of the 17th batch. He completed a rigorous three-year theological program in 2019.
During this time, he also acquired practical skills, including Word document maintenance, agro-pastoral techniques, and mobile phone (GSM) repair, increasing his effectiveness and versatility on the field. Currently, he serves as a part-time theology instructor at the Bible Training Center in Zinvié, teaching subjects such as: sin, the second coming of Jesus Christ, how to understand the Bible and God’s plan for human salvation.
Missionary Work and Church Planting
After completing his theological training, Geoffroy immediately entered the mission field. From 2019 to 2025, he successfully planted seven Churches of Christ across various locations in Benin:
2019: Zinvié-Ville (about 120 members)
2020: Hounliko Glo (90 members) and Tchankahoué (65 members by 2021)
2022: Aitchedji (around 30 members)
2024: Sèdjè (54 members)
2024–2025: Kpanroun (28 members)
2025: Houdo Aguékon (currently in development)
He has already identified three additional locations for future church plants. Between 2018 and 2025, over 300 individuals have been baptized through his ministry, testifying to its spiritual impact.
Commitment to Training New Workers
Recognizing the importance of a strong spiritual workforce, Geoffroy took the initiative to enroll eleven brothers in the Bible Training Center. Among them: one graduate has already planted two new churches and four others are nearing graduation and are preparing to lead their own congregations.
This effort highlights Geoffroy’s dedication not only to preaching the Gospel but also to building a new generation of spiritual leaders.
In summary, Awanou M. Geoffroy is a dedicated, methodical and passionate servant of God. Through his academic achievements, spiritual formation, missionary engagement and strategic initiatives, he has become a key figure in the expansion of the Church of Christ in Benin.
He remains open to all forms of collaboration—spiritual, material or institutional—to further strengthen and solidify the impact of his ministry.
